INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS

Bring precision to the material trail.

Connect job requirements and reviewed engineering information to the stock and sourcing decisions that support precision work.

THE CHALLENGE

The right part is more than a description

A precision component can depend on a specific material grade, drawing revision, quantity and destination. A similar description in a supplier offer may not establish that the item meets the approved requirement.

When job details and supplier correspondence are separated, buyers and engineers can lose time confirming which revision and specification are relevant.

THE APPROACH

Keep context with the requirement

The development build links jobs and material needs with stock and sourcing records. Approved engineering source information can be carried into an RFQ; specification or part-number deviations require explicit technical review.

Supplier offers are recorded locally and compared within compatible groups. Supplier selection and purchasing remain subject to human review; RFQ communication is preview-only.

IN PRACTICE

Follow the work, not just the records.

A machine shop sourcing a bar for a turned shaft can record the material requirement and compare supplier offers while checking the approved grade and drawing revision.

  • Keep approved source context visible
  • Review deviations before purchasing
  • Trace material decisions to the job

Frequently asked questions

Does Recon automatically approve substitute materials?

No. Specification or part-number deviations require explicit review, and a different catalogue item needs a controlled change rather than silent substitution.
